Along with the rebrand of this website from Alchemical Gaming to Narrative Alchemy, I am officially opening my doors today as a pastoral counselor. While I used to have some imposter syndrome around this, I can’t deny that friends have occasionally come to me for religious or spiritual advice, throughout my adult life. I am frequently the go-to person if someone needs a trip sitter at a festival, and I enjoy that role very much. I have a broad and long (since middle school) understanding of autism and ADHD research, and of psychology more generally.
Much like the first few times I co-designed a High Holiday ritual, this feels like a calling. I am already ordained by the Universal Life Church, and besides… as a proper Discordian I believe that every human is a genuine and authorized pope. (Lol. Imagine someone seriously claiming to be a ‘proper Discordian’; they’d get laughed out of Discordian Church.)
I aim to specialize in underserved groups that I know fairly well, primarily LGBTQ+ people, pagans and heathens, goths, nerds, hippies, gamers, Jews who feel too weird for their local community, nontheists of any kind, and deconstructing Christians. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
I will not be charging for this service, for now, until I get a little more experience doing it for the public. For friends and colleagues, I prefer barter but will accept money if it’s what they prefer. I’ll be available for pastoral counseling or spiritual direction sessions most often in late morning or early afternoon.
